Boulder, CO - “Roses on your pillow!” her mom told her at bedtime as she was growing up. She lovingly passed that down to her children, who now show their affection in the same way for their children’s children.

Beverly Chaffee Lindstrom, 82, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on September 28 after many hard-fought health battles. Her sweet smile, deep love for family and optimistic spirit will live on in the hearts of her Boulder native husband of nearly 60 years, Bob Lindstrom, 89, her four children, a beloved step-daughter (Laura Romine), 16 grandchildren and many friends scattered throughout the U.S.

Her memorial service will be Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the Boulder Valley Christian Church at 2 p.m, 7100 S. Boulder Rd., ‪Boulder, CO, with a reception following.

Bev was born March 6, 1934, and grew up as the youngest daughter of Osman and Louise Chaffee with her brother, Dick, and “bookend” sister, Donna, in the historical town of Concord, MA (where relatives still live and work). A member of the National Honor Society in Concord High School, she palled around with six girlfriends who jokingly called themselves the MOMS, or Mournful Old Maid Society. She graduated from Simmons College in Boston, and armed with a degree in physical therapy, applied for a position across the country with the new Boulder Medical Center in the mid-late 50s. BMC hired the young, adventure-filled PT sight unseen as their very first PT. She fell in love with Robert (Bob) Oliver Lindstrom in a “young people’s” fellowship at the First Methodist Church and they married in 1957. They spent the first 3 months of marriage in a rustic cabin Bob built himself in Allenspark, CO.

Their first daughter, Marla, was born in 1959 in the same hospital as Bev’s husband (BCH). Then, the moving adventure began! The growing family tripped across the country with Bob’s work as an engineering inspector to NY (Kurt born, 1960), back to Boulder (Troy, 1963), to AR (Tanja, 1964), Mississippi, MI, PA, IA and finally landed in Beaumont, TX, in 1969. Bev always kept a positive, fun-loving attitude through all the moves. They settled in Beaumont where the kids finished high school and went on to college. Bev worked for a growing PT department there where she helped as many as 50 patients in a day — a four-ring circus with people “hanging” (traction), lifting weights and hands dipped in parafim, in all corners of the busy department. They called it the “Torture Chamber,” but showered her with gifts in gratitude for healed knees and necks.

Bob and Bev carried blueprints with them around the country, and about 1987 they moved and built a home, retiring in Bob’s native Boulder, CO, where they’ve resided for about 30 years. Bev and Bob enjoyed trips to the cabin with their dogs and celebrating holidays with their growing family. She was devoted to and dearly loved all her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nana.”

Bev enjoyed making crafts in a monthly hobby group of friends and playing bridge with the “Fun Bunch.” She was a great crossword and jigsaw puzzler. A lifetime member of the Lady Elks, she served as their chaplain for 10 years. A devout follower of Jesus Christ, she also loved studying the Bible with Bible Study Fellowship at the Boulder Valley Christian Church for a dozen years.

Her children and their spouses are: Chet and Marla Benroth (Northglenn, CO), Kurt and Cheyenne Lindstrom (Duncan, OK), Troy and Evelyn Lindstrom (Nevada, TX) and Greg and Tanja King (Santa Paula, CA). Her husband, Bob, still lives in the area.

Greatly touched by Daily Devotions Inspired by 90 Minutes in Heaven, she bought many copies to pass out to friends. No doubt she is dancing and singing in the presence of God in heaven today!

But for those of us still on earth, we will really miss Bev’s unconditional loving heart, her people stories and her smile.
