-Alex Barrickman, who was taken to Keokuk a week or two ago for medical treatment, died Tuesday morning of this week and his body was brought back to Arbela the same day for interment. He was an old and highly esteemed citizen of this county and his death brings sadness to the hearts of a large circle of friends, as well as to his immediate family and relatives.

Mr. Barrickman was taken to Keokuk last week for medical treatment. A dispatch to his family this Monday morning stating he was in a very critical condition. His son Demp left on the noon train for his bedside. Later- A dispatch from Keokuk says that Alex Barrickman died at one o'clock Tuesday morning.

S.D. Barrickman and James Barrickman of Leeds, N. Dak., and their sister Mrs. Lyda Walker, of Pleasant Lake, N. Dak., where [sic] called to this county last week by the death of their father at Arbela. They left Tuesday on their return home. James is much pleased with Dakota as a place to live. He made the remark to a DEMOCRAT man that "there was no place better than Dakota without it was more of Dakota." That it was a good place for a young man with limited means to get a start.

Alexander was second married to Galisha Anna Hipkins (born January 20, 1842 in Memphis, Missouri) on January 20, 1884.
