Daisy Etta Ingalls was born the fifth of seven children to William Henry Ingalls and Almina Lee Trescott. Her father died when she was 10. At the time of the 1900 U.S. Census, she was a boarder with the Ellery Miller family in Coventry, VT and was attending school. On 25 Feb 1902 she married Henry Albert Robbins (1881-1943) of Sheffield, VT. She was not even 15 yrs old at the time, but claimed to be 18. In 1908 her mother died in Barton, VT. In 1910 Daisy and Henry were living in Sutton, VT as boarders with the Frank Thrasher family - Daisy was keeping house for them as a "servant" and Henry was working fulltime doing odd jobs. Daisy and Henry divorced at some point, and on Christmas Day 1914 Daisy married Elmer Gerald Smith in Sutton, VT. 06 Feb 1916 she gave birth to her only child, Mahlon Arthur Smith (1916-1968) in St. Johnsbury, VT - he served our country in WWII in the Army Air Corps. In 1920 they lived in Burke, VT on School Street. Elmer was working at a sawmill nearby. By 1930 they were still in Burke, VT and Daisy was making money by washing laundry at her home on Church Street and Elmer was still working as a sawmill laborer. Daisy divorced from Elmer at some point before her death 02 Jan 1948. She lingered at Brightlook Hospital for 18 weeks until her passing. She is buried in Welcome O. Brown Cemetery in Barton, VT with no marker, next to her mother Almina and brother Fred.
