SSDI and Kentucky Birth Index both claim Ollie Allen was born Feb. 18th, 1923. The death certificate states he was born Feb. 10th, 1923. Both the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File and the headstone state Feb. 23rd, 1923.

KNOX -- Services for Ollie Allen, 56, of Rt. 1, who died at 9 a.m. Saturday in La Porte Hospital after a short illness, were to have been at 2 p.m. at the Braman and Son Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Russell Fagner, officiating. Burial was to have been in Bass Lake Cemetery. Graveside services were to have been held by the Knox American Legion Post 139.
He was born on Feb. 10, 1923, in Royalton, Ky. He worked for Allis-Chalmers of La Porte, On April 19, 1943, in El Paso, Texas, he married Gwen White, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lynch of Bloomington; two sons, Thomas of Nappanee and Marvin of South Bend; his father, Rev. Mack Allen of Knox; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Lucy Webb of Knox; eight brothers, Bazz, Creed, Ralph, Russell, Gerald and Dan, all of Knox, Joe of Union Mills, Floyd of Kewanna. He was a veteran of World War II. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
