Approximately 1900 Mayme moved to Granville, Iowa to join her brother Joseph, and sisters Catherine Sauer and Lizzie Ahlers. In 1907, the year Lizzie and their mother passed away, Mayme returned to Wisconsin for a few years to run the farming household for her brother Nick. He finally got married in 1913, so she came back to Granville and remained in the community until 1930, then moved to Gardena, California with Joseph and his family. She remained in residence with her sister-in-law Anna plus nieces and nephews when they relocated to Burbank in the late-1930's.

Her obituary lists six surviving nieces: Hildegard of Burbank, Sally Zaharris/Roseville, Mrs. Theo Moore/Lakeside AZ, Mrs. Cecelia Casper and Miss Mildred Weiskircher, both of Dodgeville, and Mrs. Levon Jones of Mineral Point. Surviving nephews included Wesley Urban of Los Angeles and Ernest of Burbank.

Brothers not listed below, Nicolas and John P., farmed in Iowa County up through 1930, but their whereabouts afterward are unknown.
