Nathaniel Fishell (listed as Fishel on his grave marker) was the third of seven known children of Daniel Fishel (1780-1859) and his second wife, Maria Magdeline Snider (1781-1853), who married 30 Jan 1808 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Jonathan was first married to Sarah Elizabeth Zieglar (1778-1806) on 12 Apr 1803 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina with who he had two known children.
Nathaniel married Mary Magdalene Amburn (1806-1892) on 30 Dec 1836 at Davidson County, North Carolina. Nathaniel and Mary were the parents of two known children, namely:
1. John E. Fishel (1838-1838)
2. baby daughter Fishel (1839-1839)
