Marjorie Philpot Taylor, 81, of Como, died Thursday, May 19 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. Mrs. Taylor was a wife and a mother, and a member of Como Methodist Church. She attended Judson College and the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. After graduating with a BA in home economics, she worked as a stewardess from American Airlines. She was very active in her church, being a M.Y.F. leader, one of the founders of the Explorers Bible Study, and was instrumental in raising funds for the English Carillon bells at the church. An avid supporter of the arts, she was also a member of the Panola Playhouse in Sardis, the Como Opera Guild, the Como Garden Club, and the Daughters of
the American Revolution. Services were Sunday, May 22 at Como United Methodist Church with interment in Friendship Cemetery in Como. Pallbearers were Mike Bartlett, Bobby Lipscomb, Bingie Carter, John Loftin, Robert Carter, Blake Boyd, III, Sledge Taylor, and Bill Wallace. Honorary
pallbearers were the Christian Under Construction Sunday School Class and the Explorer Bible study class.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Van Philpot, and one grandson, Taylor. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Arthur R. Taylor, Jr.; one daughter, Lee Taylor Boyd and husband Blake Boyd, Jr., of Camden, S.C.;
three sons, Dr. Arthur R. Taylor, III, of Oak Ridge, N.C., and Van Philpot Taylor and David Kenneth Taylor, both of Como; two sisters, Grace Nelson of Anniston, Ala., and Lois Sandusky of Memphis; eight grandchildren Jared,Carmen, Ashley, Aubrey, Kimberly, Emily, Blake, and Margie; and one
great-grandson.
