Benson, NC: Mr. Joseph "Joe" Edward Denning, age 82, of 1431 Denning Road died Thursday at his residence. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday at Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Glenn McCullen and Rev. Don Sauls. Burial will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn.
Mr. Denning was born on April 26, 1935, in Johnston County to the late David Hunter and Lena Gertrude Creech Denning. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Annie Laurie Lewis and Jane Hardee, and brothers, Willis Creech "Billy" Denning and Deleon Denning. Mr. Denning was the owner and operator of Joe Denning & Sons Farms and Denning Transport. He was a member of Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by wife of 61 years, Barbara Whittington Denning; children & spouses, Jo Carol & Keith Hudson of Benson, Max Edward & Sheila Denning of Benson; Hunter Mark & Pamela Denning of Benson; Jean Ellen & Tommy Beasley of Benson; and Joseph Andrew & Leslie Denning of Newton Grove; grandchildren & spouses, Holly H. & Jermaine Newkirk, Heidi H. & Clifton Pegues, Jordan & Brittany Denning, Barrett & Tonya Denning, Lena Denning, Hunter & Kristan Denning, Kelli & Asa Bynum, and Scarlett Denning; 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, & cousins.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday.
