SUSAN B. BECKHAM

Susan B. Beckham, 86, of Latham, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1993 at Friendship Manor in El Dorado. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Latham Christian Church. Burial will be in Latham Cemetery.

She was born May 1, 1907 in El Dorado, to Oscar Green and Adeline Harshman Burner. She received her education in Latham schools and was a graduate of Latham High School. She later attended Pittsburg State University. In 1928, she and Arvel Beckham, Sr., were married and lived in Denver, Colo., for a short time before returning to Latham. She taught school during the 1940's at both the Tole and the Brown Low Schools near Latham, and during the 1950's and 60's, she was employed with the R. C. Masters Grocery Store in Latham. She resided in Latham throughout most of her life, and she cared for her mother in her home for many years until her death. She was a member of the Latham Christian Church and a member of the Extension Homemakers Unit. Her interests included gradening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arvel, in 1975; four sisters; two brothers.

Survivors include: sons, Arvel M. "Junior" Beckham of Burden, Gerald M. "Jerry" Beckham of Latham; sister, Betty Haring of El Dorado; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with the Latham Christian Church. Contributions may be made at the church or at Miles Funeral Home, who has the arrangements. (El Dorado Times ~ 20 September 1993)
