Age 82Betty Haring was my great grandmother. Her parents were Oscar and Adeline. Betty went to Latham High School, and graduated in 1941. She did not go to college, but she still made an honest living. She married my great grandfather in 1941 in Windfield, Kansas. My great grandparents moved to El Dorado in 1987, and my great grandpa died in 1989. Betty was also a member of the Latham United Methodist Church. My great grandma was a secretary for most of her life. My great grandma had 2 children: my grandpa, Stanley, and my grandpa's sister, Marion. She also has 4 grandchildren, one being my father, and eleven great grandchildren. She died while staying at the Lakepoint Nursing Center in El Dorado, Kansas. She is currently buried in her home town, Latham.

Many people said my great grandma was a stubborn and mean person, but she was always nice to me. When I was young, she would always tell me stories about when I was a baby. She would also let me look at the old records she has. One of the things I remember is when I was younger, she would make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with butter. She told me it's because that's what the butter means in peanut butter. I had never known anyone else to do that. Before her death, she gave me a doll that looked like me. I still have this doll in my sisters room. I will always remember my great grandma as a loving family member.
