Mrs. Hannah Elston, 84, widow of the late Jesse Elston, died on Thursday, January 23, 1896, at the home of her son in Wyoming. Mrs. Elston’s sickness lasted about a week during which period she was a great sufferer. Hannah Decker, daughter of Elisha and Sarah Decker, was born Sept. 10, 1811, in Pennsylvania, where she lived for twenty-eight years. She was married to Jesse Elston in 1829, who was her companion for sixty-two years, when they were separated by is death March 7, 1891. In 1839 they moved from Pennsylvania to Middletown, O., in 1849. In 1873 they moved to Harrison county, Iowa, where they lived sixteen years. In 1889 they came to Wyoming where she continued to reside until her death. Mrs. Elston was mother of ten children, four of whom have passed away. Three daughters, who are living in Harrison county, Ia., and two daughters and one son living in Wyoming, survive her. She had thirty-three grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the house Saturday morning. The burial was in a cemetery near Bradford [presumably Smith Cemetery, earlier named Franklin Cemetery, where her husband Jesse Elston was buried].
