Rebecca (Becky Jean) was born August 20, 1923 in Carey, Idaho. She died suddenly August 25, 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the victim of a massive stroke. She was the daughter of William Lennox and Laura Adamson.
She graduated from Carey High School in 1940, attended Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, and the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. In 1943, during World War II, she enlisted in the WAVES (the women's arm of the Navy). While serving in the WAVES in San Francisco, she met her future husband, Robert Hixon. They were married in 1948 in Salt Lake City and lived from 1948 until 1973 in Oakland, California where Bob established an accounting practice and Becky worked as an executive secretary.
In 1973, the Hixsons, known to their friends and family as "Bob and Becky" moved to Alameda, California. Since retirement, Becky has been involved in daily volunteer service to the elderly in Oakland and Alameda, most recently serving at the Mastic Senior Center. Her legacy is a lifetime of service to others, particularly to her beloved Bob.
She is survived by her husband; sister, Lennox Larson Deem; cousin, Margaret McDevitt; and numerous extended family. There will be a memorial service for the family at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, 11 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2007.
