Virginia was born October 27, 1928 in Gatesville, Texas, the daughter of Samuel A. and Beatrice I. (Gamblin) Powell.
After completing high school in Gatesville in 1946, Virginia attended college at Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth, Texas.
In addition to raising her three children, she loved to work in the garden, growing beautiful flowers for her friends and family to enjoy. Virginia liked to travel and never passed up the opportunity to see or dream about new places.
Virginia is survived by her sister, Betty (Powell) Sherouse and her husband Byron of San Antonio, Texas; sons, Greg Henington and wife, Valynda, of Terlingua, Texas; Jeff Henington and wife, Joan, of Richmond, Texas and; daughter, Jennifer Alexander of Taylor, Texas. She was preceded in death by her brother, William (Bill) L. Powell of Temple, Texas.
There will be a private graveside service for immediate family members at the Bellwood Memorial Cemetery in Temple, Texas.
The family asks that donations in lieu of flowers can be made to a local humane society.
