Mattie E. Conroy passed away January 3, 1975, in San Francisco. Resident of 2000 Cypress Loop, Fortuna. She was the wife of Verland Conroy of Fortuna; sister of Robert C. Ross, Mrs. Gertha G. Cowan, Mrs. Elizabeth I. Anderson and Mrs. Marian J. Dunaway, all of Fortuna, and Mrs. Nan B. Moore of Rio Dell. She is survived by numerous other relatives.
Mrs. Conroy was a native of Cambridge, Idaho, age 65 years. She came to California and Humboldt County in 1917 making her home in the Fortuna area. She was a member of the Fortuna First United Methodist church and life member of United Methodist Woman. Mrs. Conroy was a former City Clerk for the City of Fortuna; owner of A. S. Fulmore Insurance Agency and senior partner in Ross, Cowan and Dunaway Insurance Agency. She was president of Fortuna Savings and Loan, which is now Imperial Savings and past board member of Redwood Memorial Hospital. She was a charter member of Fortuna Quota Club and a member of the Gem and mineral Society.
Friends are invited to attend services in the chapel of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary, Monday, January 6, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Joseph R. Kidd officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Eureka.
Casketbearers will be Norman Grunert, Jay Grunert, Albert Hunt, James Hunt, James Jorgensen and Harry Durant.
