After the birth of several children, he moved to Bond Co. IL where he was living next door to Felix Johns. Joseph next moved to Williamson Co. IL and was in Greene Co. MO by 1840. Susan died in an area that is now in Christian Co. MO and Joseph moved to Barry Co. MO where, on 4 Apr 1844, he married his second wife Abigail Zornes, widow of John Partrick. Joseph's daughters Margaret Ann married John Wilson Ince and Rachel married Campbell Ince, so some of the Johns family moved with the Ince family to Derden TX. The older sons stayed in Christian Co. MO.
