BETTENDORF — Carl D. Estell, 71, of Bettendorf, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Mass of Christian Burial and funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 26, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4097 18th St., Bettendorf, with the Rev. Ross Epping officiating. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Carl was born in 1945 in Aberdeen, Mississippi, to Henry and Alma Estell. He married Beverly A. Shackelford on September 5, 1970, in Rock Island. During the Vietnam era, he served with the U.S. Army. He was a power house mechanic for Sivyer Steel, Bettendorf, for 32 years, retiring in 2000. He also enjoyed working in his garage.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; daughter, Ann (Leroy) Pianka; son, Darin Carl (Barbara) Estell; grandchildren, Andy Lopez, Bella (Scott Boersma) Lopez, David Proksch, Michael (Andrea) Proksch and Jacob (Samantha Paxston) Proksch; great-grandchildren, Donald Boersma, Elliot, Stella and Joel Proksch, Hailey Debord and Oakley Proksch; and sisters, Mary Ann Estell and Betty Sue Leach. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
