Henrietta DeBoer was born October 10, 1910, on the family farm at Doon, Iowa, to Marinus and Marguerite (Wiersma) Schilt. She was baptized and confirmed at the Dutch Reformed Church and graduated from Hull High School in 1929. After her education she taught school for 3 years. She married Gilbert DeBoer on June 29, 1932 on her family's farm. After marriage they lived in Little Rock and later Arnolds Park while Gilbert taught and coached. In 1938 they moved to North Superior. Over the years they lived in various communities in Iowa including Des Monies Township, Plover, Ridgeway, Coulter and Ledyard. Gilbert retired in 1974 and after retirement they traveled for a year before making their home in Colorado Springs. They moved to Eagan, Minnesota, in 2000 to be near their daughter. Gilbert passed away on August 8, 2004. Henrietta was a former member of Village Seven Presbyterian Church where she had been very active. She also spent much of her time doing volunteer work. She was an avid bird watcher and loved the outdoors and camping. She liked to travel and enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren - especially Scrabble & Bridge. Henrietta was strong, intelligent, compassionate, proper, and had a fun sense of humor. Survivors include her children and their spouses: Charles and Sarah Christine of Palmyra, New York, Larry and Pam of Northfield, Minnesota, Jon and Lorraine of Denver, Gretchen of Eagan; 10 grandchildren: Lisa, Peter, Trent (Betsy), Chad, Michael, Benjamin (Erika) DeBoer, Laura (Tony) Jones, and Siri, Hannah and Dylan Pinter; 4 great-grandchildren: Michael, Jeremiah, Courtney & Lilah Mabel. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Henrietta passed away, with her family by her side, on Friday afternoon, February 23, 2007, at the Lodge on Summit Oaks in Burnsville, Minensota, at the age of 96. Services will be at 11:00 A.M.
