John Baker Garrott, Sr., age 88 of Gallatin, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017.  Funeral Service will be Friday, June 23rd at First Presbyterian Church of Gallatin at 1:00 p.m., with Dr. Charles Moffatt officiating and Judge Jim Hunter, Steve Sudbury, Josh Sudbury, and Johnny Garrott speaking.  Visitation will be Thursday, June 22nd at First Presbyterian Church of Gallatin from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m., and Friday, June 23rd from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.  Interment will follow the service at Gallatin Cemetery, with Stan Ragon, Ryan Freeman, Josh Sudbury, Robert Hunter, Caleb Dodd, Daniel Bugbee, Avery Fowler, and Houston Mason serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Rotary Clubs of Gallatin and the Old Men’s Club.  In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Sumner County Museum, P.O. Box 1163, 183 W. Main Street, Gallatin, TN.  37066.
Mr. Garrott was born August 1, 1928, to the late Ed H. Garrott and Myra Elizabeth Baker Garrott.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Tommy Garrott and E. H. “Bud” Garrott.  He is survived by wife of 69 years, June Ditty Garrott of Gallatin;  son, Johnny Garrott (Pam) of Gallatin; daughters, Jane Sudbury (Steve) of Gallatin and Betsy Hunter (Jim) of Gallatin; sister, Myra Elizabeth Choate of Bradenton, FL; sister-in-laws, Betty Garrott of Gallatin and Sue Garrott of Gallatin; 8 grandchildren, Robert Hunter (Alicia), Rachel Dodd (Caleb), Karen freeman (Ryan), Amy Ragon (Stan), Josh Sudbury (Chelsea), Heather Bugbee (Daniel), Olivia Garrott, and Mary Jane Fowler (Avery); 13 great grandchildren, Lily Hunter, Myra Hunter, James Hunter, Addie Dodd, Finn Dodd, Will Ragon, Jane Claire Ragon, Mia Freeman, Eli Freeman, Jack Sudbury, Charlie Sudbury, Emerson Bugbee, and Caroline Bugbee; and special mention of Saw Dust and Fat Cat.
John and his father started Garrott Brothers in 1950 and he continued working with his brothers until 1989.  He was an active member of the Rotary Clubs for 61 years.  He was the Sumner County Historian.  He received the Silver Beaver Award, this was the award he was most proud of.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.  Family Heritage Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements
