Helen S. Taylor, 93, of Schuylkill Haven, died unexpectedly Thursday at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

Born in Frackville, she was a daughter of the late Maxim and Tessie Sedor Comac. She graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Reading.

Helen was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific, attaining the rank of captain in the Army Nurse Corps. She later worked as a registered nurse at both of the former Pottsville hospitals. After retiring from nursing, true to her nature, she wanted to stay active. She worked as a hostess for R&J Tours for 17 years, enjoying travel and helping others, until her retirement at the age of 89. She remained active by sewing, reading, walking, baking pies and cheering for the Phillies.

Helen truly touched the lives of many, sharing stories, loving life, and devoting her time and care to her family and friends.

She was a devout member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Frackville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ivan M. Taylor, formerly of Michigan; two brothers, Peter and Paul Comac; two sisters, Ann Krull and Marie Argeson.

Helen is survived by her son, Christian, husband of Pam Taylor, Northampton; two daughters, Lisa Taylor, wife of Joe Weber, Allentown, and Beth Martin, Pottsville; two sisters, Eva Ladick and Betty Leskie; grandchildren, Jennifer Avon, Orwigsburg, Carly Rinda, Tamaqua, Christian Weber, Allentown, and Avery Taylor, Northampton; a great-grandson, Jayden Rinda; nieces and nephews.
