Spruce Pine - Dennis Richard Biddix, 73, of Dale Road in Spruce Pine, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at his home.
A native of Mitchell County, he was born Nov. 19, 1932, and was the son of the late Purtle and Lizzie Hollifield Biddix and the husband of the late Wilma Arnold Biddix, who died in 1999. He was a member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church and was a member of Vesper Lodge # 554 A.F. & A.M. He was retired from Baxter Health Care of Marion, was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Biddix and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Grassy Creek Baptist Church. The Revs. Matthew Mills, Sibbald Lambert and Wesley Dale will officiate. Burial will be in Grassy Creek Memorial Gardens with graveside services conducted by Vesper Lodge # 554 A.F. & A.M.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Webb Funeral Home.
He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law; Denise and Paul Dover, Karen and Mike Grindstaff, Kim and Landon Townsend, all of Spruce Pine and Angie Biddix of the home; two sisters; Joyce Ollis and Betty Ollis, both of Spruce Pine; six grandchildren, Jennifer Carpenter, Jessica and Olivia Dover, Matthew Grindstaff, Dennis Beaver and Laura Townsend; two great-grandchildren, Izaiah and Jerika Carpenter; several nieces and nephews.
