Elizabeth Schlax was born in Germany in the year 1852, coming to America in 1881. for a few months she lived at Marysville and later at Palmer.
In 1883 she was united in marriage to Charles Long (Lang) after which they moved to Clara where they lived until 1910 when they came to Clifton where they have since resided.
Mrs. Long's death occurred at her home on Bartlette Avenue, Tuesday March 4, 1913, after a short illness.
She leaves to mourn the loss of a mother seven children, namely, Maggie Knoettgen, Nick Long, Mike Long, Lizzie Esslinger, Charles Long, John Long and Annie Kaylor of McPherson.
Her husband and two brothers, Pete Schlax of Kansas City and Mike Schlax of Little Falls, Minnesota are also left to mourn for her.
The deceased was a faithful wife, indulgent mother and good neighbor. She gave her whole life to her helpmate and children. Mother will never meet her children at the door with a welcome smile again, but they can go to her.
Funeral services were held at the St. Marys Catholic Church Friday morning conducted by Father Weber.
Interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery.
