Rev. Wilbert James Sloan, 84, Ozark, died at 11:05 a.m. Monday in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.

He was a Southern Baptist minister and a charter member of the Eastern Gate Baptist Church, near Ozark. He is survived by his wife Letha, six sons, Bill, Paul, Harry and Jerry, all of Springfield, Kenneth, Cedar Falls, Iowa and James, Greenleaf, Kansas; four daughters, Betty Mitchell and Pauline Kirk, both of St. Louis, Isabel Hegi, Conway Ark. and Doris Gene Sloan, Bolivar; two step sons, William Junior Sloan, Pleasant Hope and Fred Thomas, Springfield; four step daughters, Ada Sloan Springfield, Dorothy Elonich, Grand Island, Neb., Lanora Dixon, Aurora and Patty Thomas, Boaz; one brother, Arthur, Buffalo; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Eastern Gate Church, Ozark, with the Revs. Paul Swadley and David Owings officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial under direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North.

Visitian will be from 7:30 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Wilbert was one of 13 children born to James Marion and Lucy F. Keeth Sloan.
