Son of James Marion and Lucy F. "Keeth" Sloan. Husband of Minnie "Goodman" Sloan. George was a retired carpenter, a member of the Peoria Baptist Church and was a WWI Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife Minnie Sloan of the home; three sons; Clifford Sloan, Miami; Paul Sloan, Lawrence; and Jimmy Sloan, Ironton; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Althea)Sedberry, Commerce; three brothers, Wilbert Sloan, Ozark. Mo.; Arthur Sloan, Buffalo, Mo.; and Clell Sloan, Dixon, Mo. Another brother Orval Sloan died Aug. 13, 1974, Lebanon, Mo.; a sister Ada Jane Sloan Johnson died Aug. 14 1970 in California.
