He was born in Ithaca, son of the late Michael and Elizabeth Shippos and was the widower of Phyllis L. Turcsik who died in 1990.
He was retired from the City of Ithaca where he had worked for over twenty years.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Owens of Ithaca and Patricia Bickham of Hollywood, FL; his sisters Elizabeth Norman of Groton, Mary Horton and Dorothy Oltz both of Ithaca, Helen Clark of Brownwood, TX and Isabelle Curtis of Millbrook; his brother, Michael Turcsik of Ithaca.
He is also survived by his fiancée, Doris Warner of Newfield, 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be celebrated by Rev. Bernard Carges on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Bangs Funeral Home. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Lakeview Cemetery will be delayed until spring.

William R. Turcsik 61, of 517 Indiana Lane, Newfield died Sunday February 2, 1997 at Greater Niagara Hospital. Graveside services will be held Friday May 2, 1997, at Lakeview Cemetery with the Rev. Bernard Carges officiating. Bangs Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
