Obituary: Robert Lee Heater, age 79, of Roanoke, WV passed away at 4:55 AM on Monday, June 05, 2017 in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following an extended illness. He was born in Roanoke, WV on July 15, 1937 a son of the late Ernest Rye Heater and Vade Riffle Heater. On February 03, 1986 he married Sandra Kay Mick Heater who will miss him dearly after 31 years of marriage. His ornery, loving nature will be carried on by his two children: Shawn Heater and wife, Sharanda, of Roanoke, and Steven Heater and wife, Laura, of Weston, WV; five grandchildren: Caleb Heater, Easton Heater, Gunner Heater, Selina Cogar, and Michael “Bobby” Cogar; two siblings: Lawrence Heater, and Mary Asquith, both of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews; one great niece, Brenda Heater of Roanoke; and his beloved dogs: Bella and Snook. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one grandson, Gage Heater; and seven siblings: Helen Butcher, Velva Woody, Ernestine Ables, Juanita Smith, Clarence Heater, Russell Heater and Fred Heater. Bob worked as a grader operator for the WV Department of Highways and retired with 38.5 years of service. He was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, often with his loyal companions, Bella and Snook by his side. Family was his greatest treasure and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, June 07, 2017. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wease Day officiating. Interment will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery in Roanoke.
