BROWN (aged 48 years), master machinist at foundry holding $14,000 in real estate and $1,000 in personal estate, with [children] William B. BROWN, Jr. (17), Carrie E[ugenia] BROWN (13), both going to school; [likely mother] Jennie BROWN (71), [evident sisters] Caroline [M. "Carrie"] (40) & [Mary] Elizabeth BROWN (33), both seamstresses; Virginia BELAND (28), also a seamstress; Black domestic servants Jane WILLIAMS (45), Columbus (13), Griffin (13), and Eveline (14).
This grave is evidently not identifiably marked. Dolores Autry's "Historic Linwood Cemetery" manuscript (unpublished version) reports 2 adult "slabs" [= adult-sized plain ledger grave markers] and 1 baby "slab," none of which have any markings, in the "W. R. BROWN" lot (her Section I, Lot 93, which is located in the Old Cemetery section.
