Bayfield woman dies after being struck by pickup
A 76-year-old Bayfield woman has died of injuries suffered Saturday when she was struck by a vehicle at the Giant Conoco, 650 S. Buck Highway (County Road 521).

Linda Allenbaugh was going into the gas station to get a propane tank filled when she was struck by a Ford Ranger pickup driven by Maxim Lowry, 32, of Dolores, according to Bayfield Marshal Joe McIntyre.

McIntyre, Sgt. Dan Abdella and Upper Pine River Fire Protection District arrived within minutes and Allenbaugh, who fell backward and struck her head on the ground, was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center. She was transferred to San Juan Medical Center in Farmington, but surgery to control bleeding was not successful, McIntyre said.

The station was busy during the Memorial Day weekend, and Lowry was driving through to find an open pump. He glanced to the left and did not see Allenbaugh in front of him, Abdella said

Linda spoke very good Spanish

fart in the world wind, Fart en el viento del mundo

Linda is survived by her husband, step daughter, a brother and a sister and many nieces and nephews, and hundreds of friends.
