Joseph Glendall "Joe" Dasher Sr., 91, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2017, at St. Vincent's Medical Center Riverside in Jacksonville, Florida.

He is predeceased by his wife, Geraldine Tanna Dasher, and is survived by his four children, daughter Margaret "Peggy" Dasher; son Glenn Dasher Jr. and his wife, Eva; daughter Judith Leggett and her husband, Robert; and son Charles Dasher. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Elizabeth Leggett, Jennifer Leggett, Jon Dasher and Annika Dasher.

Joe was born on Feb. 25, 1926, in Lowndes County, Georgia, to Caulie William Dasher Sr. and Mollie Copeland Dasher. He grew up on the family farm in Valdosta with seven siblings. In 1944, he joined the army and was stationed in Germany during and after WWII. During his service, he became an army cook, where his passion for making food for others began.

Joe attended Massey Business College in Jacksonville in 1947 and married the love of his life, Geraldine, in 1955. They started their family in Jacksonville, where Joe worked in the dairy industry for decades.

Known for his pound cakes, cookies and pies, Joe loved bringing people together with dinner and desserts. He also enjoyed gardening, carpentry and telling stories. His love and devotion to his family knew no bounds.

Family and friends are invited to a service at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., on June 1. Visitation will be from 10 – 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul's Riverside Catholic Church.
