John Peter Theofield, 87, of Montgomery County, MD, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017. He was surrounded by his family at Holy Cross Hospital.
John is survived by his wife, Ruth Theofield, and his children and their spouses, Hope McGonigle, (Charles), Bonnie Redmond, (Tim), Jean Eargle, (Julian), Kurt Chadwick, and Dirk Chadwick. John has nine grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Born October 13, 1929 in Myersville, MD to John and Grace Theofield. John is survived by his sister, Janet Stevens, and predeceased by Robert, Truman, and Alice Theofield.
John attended Blair High School and served as class president in 1948. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1952 with a degree in accounting. After serving in the US Army, John worked at Intercounty Construction Inc. and eventually started a successful accounting firm. John worked through April 2017.
John's passion was his tree farm in Frederick, MD. John enjoyed working Hardee Farms with his grandsons and good friends. It was his "labor of love". He was a member and former president of the Maryland Christmas Tree Association, He was also a long time member and contributor of the Burtonsville Lions Club.
John will be remembered for his love of his family and friends, his hard work, and fun personality. A viewing will be held 2:00 to 5:00, Monday, May 29, 2017 at Hines/Rinaldi, Silver Spring, MD. A visitation (10:00) and service (11:00) will be held at Immanuel's Church, Silver Spring, MD, on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. Burial immediately following at Union Cemetery, Burtonsville, MD.
