She was born in Cleveland Co, North Carolina to Thurman Dewitt Long and Etta Grigg Long.
She was also preceded in death by her stepmother Onnie McClain Long, her husband of 64 years Earnest Clyde Maples, her son Ronald D. Maples, two sisters and one brother.
She was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.
She loved gardening and being outside as well as picking blackberries, cooking and fishing. She was always a sweet and loving woman of God.
