Death of Professor Blunt.
Professor Ambrose Blunt, A. M.,
died very suddenly last night of heart
disease at his residence at Ligonier.
The deceased was born in Lincoln
county, Maine, on Nov. 14, 1835, and
was graduated from Wesleyan Univer
sity, at Middletown, Ct., in 1863. In
1866 he received the degree of Master
of Arts from the University. He
taught in several academies, and came
to Goshen in 1871. Here he conducted
a book store for several years, and
was then selected as the Principal of
the Goshen schools. He superintended
our schools for about eight years. A
bout the year 1883 he moved on a
farm near Bristol, and a few years
later to Ligonier, where he superinten
ded the public schools.
Prof. Blunt was married to Miss
Elizabeth J. Lee, of Cincinnatus, N. Y.,
in July, 1865. He united with the
Congregational Church in 1867, but
transferred his membership to the
Presbyterian Church after settling in
Goshen.
Prof. Blunt was a successful
prominent educator and an intelligent,
industrious, honorable Christian gentle
man. His many friends in this city
will be grieved to hear of his death,
and the bereaved family have the sin
cere sympathy of all.
