Dora Johns Pyle was born November 29, 1894 near Longford, Clay County, Kansas to Charles Lincoln and Mary Garvie Johns. Dora Johns married Chester Andrew Pyle on February 27, 1916 in Woodward, Woodward County, Oklahoma. To this union was born three children. Dora Pyle died October 26, 1992 at the Mooreland Golden Age Nursing Home, Mooreland, Woodward County, Oklahoma.

Dora Pyle, 97-year-old Mooreland, Oklahoma resident, died Monday, October 26, 1992, in the Mooreland Golden Age Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday 29, in the Mooreland United Methodist Church, Mooreland, Oklahoma with the Rev. Mark Davis officiating.
Burial will follow in Union Cemetery south of Quinlan, Oklahoma with Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Dora Johns Pyle was born on November 29, 1894, near Longford, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Mary Johns. She came with her parents in February, 1900, to a farm southeast of Quinlan, Oklahoma. To this union three children were born.
In 1942 and 1943 she work at the Woodward Schools and also assisted in the library as a book binder. In 1954 she became an assistant librarian for the Altrusa Library in Mooreland, Oklahoma. She later became librarian at the Altrusa Library in which she served for 12 years.
After her husband's death, she continued living at home in Mooreland, Oklahoma. She moved to the Golden Age Nursing Home January 24, 1989, after breaking her hip.
She was a member of the Mooreland United Methodist Church and worked in the nursery for several years. She was also a member of Rebekah Lodge.
Surivors include two sisters, Mary Crumrine of Pampa, Texas, and Anna Hopkins of Mooreland, Oklahoma; one brother, John Johns of Jones, Oklahoma; three grandchindren, Larry Garten of Phoenix, Arizona, Peggy Baker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Joyce Garten of Woodward, Oklahoma; four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Gerald and Harold Pyle, one daughter, Lala Elem, and two brothers, Wilfred and David Johns.
