Mrs Anna G Scharf, widow of Philip Scharf, died at 11 pm Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs Edmund G Gohmann, 1121 East Oak Street.

Mrs Scharf and her aged husband were injured seriously in the tornado of March 23, 1917. Their home on North State Street was demolished and they were buried beneath the debris. Mrs Scharf sustained an injury to her left hand which necessitated its being amputated.

Mrs Scharf was 80 years old and had lived in New Albany for more than half a century. Besides her daughter, Mrs Gohmann, she is survived by four sons: Frank Scharf, of Louisville, and John, George and Philip Scharf, of New Albany. Eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs Scharf was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be held at the church at 9 am tomorrow. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery. ~ Louisville Courier-Journal, Feb 13, 1921
