Jesslyn Pauline (Rowell) (Rogers) McClure, 85, died May 16,2017 at her home surrounded by family and friends.

Jesslyn was the daughter of Pauline and James Roberts ( Bob) Rowell, born in Mobile, Alabama on March 3, 1932.

While attending Tyner High School, and for most of her life, she was faithful to Calvary Nazarene Church.

Jesslyn married James E. Rogers, Jr. of Jasper, Tennessee on April 24, 1949. Master Sergeant James Rogers was killed in action in Korea April 10, 1953 when his command post came under heavy mortar fire by North Korea. She and James had two Children, James E. Rogers III and Robert Bradley Rogers.

Jesslyn and William Joseph Lee ( Joe) McClure married on November 6, 1953 in Chattanooga. They lived in Knoxville while Joe was attending the University of Tennessee, and in Chattanooga, Houston, and then for 29 years in Cincinnati, Ohio, while Joe worked for Powell Valves. Jesslyn was unparalleled at homemaking and providing support and encouragement to her family and friends. Joe and Jesslyn enjoyed 63- ½ years of married bliss.

Jesslyn loved to prepare meals for her friends and family, filling the table with special treats. “Jesslyn’s Banana Pudding” is a featured item at Sugar’s Ribs.

Jesslyn was preceded in death by her parents Pauline ( Kelsay) and James R. Rowell, her first husband James E. Rogers, Jr., her son Robert Bradley Rogers, granddaughter Jennifer Rogers ( Infant), brothers Dewey and William ( Spud) Rowell, and sister Maian Rowell Carr.

Jesslyn is survived by her husband Joe, son James E. Rogers III, grandchildren Rebecca Robin Roper ( Jan) of Whittier, North Carolina, and Jesse R. Rogers ( Rebecca) of Ringgold, Georgia; and great grandchildren Amelia and Brice Rogers, Jordan and Jedi Roper of Whittier, North Carolina, and Alexander Joseph ( A.J.) Rogers of Ringgold, Georgia; sisters Bobbie King ( Don) of Chattanooga and Marlene Pagleno of Rossville, Georgia; several cousins, nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 4-8 pm at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace and on Saturday from 10-11am.
Funeral service for Jesslyn will be conducted at 11 am on Saturday, May 20, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Jim Bennett officiating. Interment to Greenwood Cemetery.

The family has entrusted in Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace, 601 Ashland Terrace, and Chattanooga, TN 37415.
