Dewey Rowell, November 11, 1928 – May 17, 2008
James Dewey Rowell Sr., 79, Fort Oglethorpe, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went to sleep on the beautiful morning of Saturday, May 17, 2008, only to be awakened in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mr. Rowell was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and a member of East Ridge Baptist Church. He is a veteran of the US Army serving in Germany during the Korean War. Mr. Rowell retired after 30 years at the Rossville Post Office.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Robert and Pauline Kelsay Rowell, and sister, Marian Carr.
Survivors are his loving and caring wife of 53 years, Mildred Smith Rowell, son, Jim (Kenda) Rowell, Ooltewah, daughters, Donna Huckabee, Soddy Daisy, Beth Rowell, Ft. Oglethorpe, brother, William G. Rowell, Tiftonia, sisters, Jesslyn McClure, Bobbie Jean King, Marlene "Marty" Pagleno, all of Chattanooga, 7 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Interment in Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent at www.heritagefh.com.
