François Gallant was born Abt. 1830 in Tignish, Prince Edward Island, Canada. He married Judith Aucoin on January 17, 1856 in Tignish, Prince Edward Island. Judith Aucoin was the daughter of François Aucoin and Sophique Gallant.

Marriage Record
On the seventeenth of January one thousand eight hundred and fifty six. Dispensation of the second and third degree of double consanguinity having been granted by me in virtue of a power Given to His Lordship the Rt-Rev. B. D. McDonald Bishop of Charlottetown, by the Holy Sec, bearing date of the 17th of January, 1847 and communicated to me by the said Rt-Rev. Bishop of Charlottetown by Adornment bearing date of the 20th of October, 1855. The banns of marriage between Francis Gallant, son of Firmin Gallant and Louisa Arsenaux of Cascumpec on the one part - and Judith Wedge (Aucoin) daughter of Francis Wedge (Aucoin) and Sophia Gallant also of Cascumpec, no other impediment having been discovered. I have received their mutual consent to marriage and have given them their nuptial  benediction in presence of Joseph Gallant and Magdalin Gallant. Peter McIntyre (clergy).
