Funeral services were held Wednesday morning for the late Nick Burlage, 82, who passed away Monday noon at the Orange City hospital where he had made his home the past three years due to a lingering illness.
He was born June 27, 1883, at New Vienna, Iowa, where he married Miss Antonella Newhaus on February 6, 1906. They came to the Granville vicinity to farm where they resided for many years before retiring and moving to Granville. Mrs. Burlage passed away in 1946.
He is survived by six children: Clarence and Alver of Denver, Colorado; Leonard, Elkton, SD; Edward, Osage, Iowa; Kenneth, Altoona, IA; Florence, [sic] Mrs. Jas. Schwarz, Granville; also by 22 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A son Gerald and daughter Florence preceded him in death.
Rosary was recited at Spaulding Hall Tuesday evening. Burial was at Saint Joseph's cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home.
