Leona E. "Pony" McIntyre, 83, entered into God's eternal care on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Hanover Hospital. She was the wife of William A. McIntyre to whom she was married 64 years on May 2nd.
Born October 25, 1933 in Hanover, she was the daughter of Leo J. and Estella (Hufnagle) Lawrence.
Pony was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica, Edgegrove. She was a 1952 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, McSherrystown. She enjoyed taking care of her family, crossword puzzles, hanging out at the family business warehouse and will be remembered for her pie making. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially the grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are eight children, William McIntyre Jr. and wife, Joyce of McSherrystown, Mary Sherdel and husband, John of New Oxford, Wayne McIntyre and wife, Lisa of Hanover, James McIntyre and wife, Judi of New Oxford, Brian McIntyre and wife, Carol of York Springs, Stephen McIntyre and wife, Mariann of New Oxford, Gerard McIntyre and wife, Kathy of New Oxford and Bradley McIntyre of Hanover; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five siblings, Doris Becker, Criselda Kline, Catherine Zumbrum, Leo "Pete" Lawrence and her twin brother, Leon Lawrence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Sacred Heart Basilica, Edgegrove, with Rev. Joseph R. Howard as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.Serving as pallbearers will be her six sons.
