Wilma was born in Windsor, Missouri on August 4, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Leroy Earl and Nancy (Griffith) Leonard. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Harriet Rundle Sheppard, and Mary Ellen Low.
Wilma graduated from Orton Rice School of Business in Columbia, MO. After graduation and while employed at the Registrar's Office at Stephen's College, she met her soulmate, George, on a blind date.
Like many women of her generation, Wilma dedicated her life to her husband and family. On their life journey, they lived in New Mexico, Missouri and Cambridge, Mass. They finally settled in Columbus, Ohio, where George was a geology professor at Ohio State University for thirty-six years.
After retirement in 1984, Wilma encouraged George to move to South Kingstown to be near their sons and grandchildren. She discovered a wonderful community of friends and was able to stay active both physically and mentally. Wilma loved her life. She was active in the Women's Fellowship at her church and the local YMCA, where she and her husband were selected as the 2005 Older Adult Volunteers of the Year.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband (George Jr.), a son (George Moore III), a daughter-in-law, (Carla Moore) all of South Kingstown, and a grandson (Ryan Shearer) of Anchorage. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law (Craig and Holly Moore of South Kingstown), and a daughter and son-in-law (Dana and Gerald Shearer of Anchorage, Alaska). She also leaves behind her dear grandchildren, Dawn Moore Huff and George Moore, Stacy and Kathy Moore, and Greg and Mark Shearer.
