Nola was married for 66 years to William "Bill" John Dawes, a Lieutenant in the Australian Army. In 1973 they emigrated from Australia to the United States, settling in the San Francisco area. Nola was predeceased by Bill and survived by their daughters Patti-Lou and Virginia, plus several grandchildren.
