Alex "Turner" Gray was born on November 26, 1881 in Williamson County, Tennessee, the son of John Alexander Gray (1857–1922) and his 1st wife Mary Susan (Gray) Gray (1863–1900).
He was married 1st on December 24, 1902 in Williamson County, Tennessee to Lena Mai Carter (1882–1917), the daughter of Richard Carter and Tennie (Hicks) Carter. Turner was married 2nd on March 15, 1919 in Davidson County to Annie Elizabeth (Hulan) Napier (1890–1936). And Turner was married 3rd about 1936 to Maggie ( -- ) Chatman (1911– ).
Retired from Tennessee Valley Authority and living at 1607 Essex Place in Nashville, Turner was 80 years old and married when he had a stroke and died on March 22, 1963 at Saint Thomas Hospital.
Survivors included his wife Maggie, son L O Gray, daughters Mrs Bessie Gotto, Mrs Elizabeth Prince and Mrs Susie Napier, stepson Vernon Napier, stepdaughters Mrs Mary Lee Roop and Mrs Annie Mullins, sister Mrs Lula Carter, brothers George T Gray Sr of Nashville, John Hugh Gray in Louisville, Kentucky and Andrew Gray of Franklin, Tennessee, twenty-seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held on March 23rd at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
