Annie Elizabeth (Hulan) (Napier) Gray was born on January 3, 1890 in Davidson County, Tennessee, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson "Tom" Hulan (1852–1922) and his wife Marilda (Foster) Hulan (1855–1896).

She was married 1st in early 1910 to Eugene George "E G" Napier (1889–1916), the son of William N Napier (ca 1847–1914) and Harriett ( -- ) Napier (ca 1850– ). She was married 2nd on March 15, 1919 in Davidson County as the 2nd wife of Alex "Turner" Gray, who was born on November 25, 1883 in Franklin, Tennessee and died on March 22, 1963 in Nashville, the son of John Alexander Gray (1857–1922) and his 1st wife Mary Susan (Gray) Gray (1863–1900). The 1920 household of Alex and Annie included 4 Gray children and 3 Napier children. Alex had been previously married on December 24, 1902 in Williamson County to Lena M Carter (1882-1917), the daughter of William "Richard" Carter (1868–1929) and Virginia "Tennie" (Hicks) Carter (1852–1902). [Lena was 34 years old when she died of post-operative pneumonia at Nashville General Hospital on February 6, 1917 and was buried two days later in "Carter Burial Grounds."]

Living at 5209 Tennessee Avenue, Nashville, Annie was 46 years old and married when she died at Nashville General Hospital on April 19, 1936 of a combination of hypertension and a cerebral hemorrhage.

Survivors included her Gray husband; daughters Bessie Lee Gray, Mrs Frank Mullins, Mrs Melvin Binkley, Mrs Hilary Napier and Mrs A T Prince; sons Vernon D Napier, Leslie Gray and Richard T Gray; sisters Mrs Addie Mayo, Mrs Mattie Alman and Mrs Maude Reed; brothers Milton Hulan, Will Hulan and John Hulan.

Funeral Services were held at Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, and burial was on April 21st in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
