Funeral services were held Saturday, April 24, for Martin Novak, 54, of 107 Illinois Street.
Mr. Novak, an employee of Corn Products Company at Argo, died Wednesday, April 19, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Joliet.
In 1937 Mr. Novak became a member of the Lemont Police Department, serving with police chief Peter J. Kane and later with chief Joseph Pociask. This position he held for more than 10 years.
He was a member of the Lemont Volunteer Fire Department for nearly 20 years. He was also a member of St. Patrick's Holy Name Society and Lockport Lodge #1557, Loyal Order of Moose.
In 1947 he married Louise Brandt, a teacher at Lemont Township High School, who survives.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Novak is survived by three brothers, Louis, Alexander and John, all of Lemont; four sisters, Mrs. Pauline Affelt, Mrs. Stella (Roman) Adamski and the Misses Helen and Theresa Novak, and several
nieces and nephews. His mother in law, Mrs. Joseph Brandt, also survives.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Martin and Rose Novak, and by two brothers, William and Leo.
Services were held Saturday morning from the Markiewicz Funeral Home, 108 Illinois Street, to St. Patrick's Church at 10 o'clock. Burial was in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
Pall bearers were his nephews, Louis Novak, Jr., Edward Novak, Richard Novak, John Affelt, Edward Affelt and Earnest Affelt.
