Wayne County Journal-Banner, Thursday, August 31, 1944, Page 1, Col. 1: R. Allen Meets Death In Sawmill Accident. Raney Allen, 61 year old farmer and the father of 13 children, died shortly after noon Tuesday of injuries received in a saw mill accident at his home near Clubb, in Wayne county. The injured man was taken to the office of a Greenville physician and died en-route to the Poplar Bluff Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Allen was operating a small saw mill outfit at his home when an inch board about six inches long stuck in the saw, then worked loose striking him in the head. Witnesses said the piece of wood almost passed through his head. He was born near Clubb and had resided in Wayne county during his entire life.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sally Allen and 13 children, Mrs. Ola Ward, Mrs. Eunice Clark and Mrs. Josephine Nuccio of st. Louis, the Rev. Andrew Allen of Marquand, Mo., Mrs. Pauline Barks of Hiram, Mrs. Gladys Sullivan of Clubb, Richard Allen in the armed forces in England and six children at home, Grady, Katherine Virginia, Glenn, Shirley and Jerry.
The Rev. Leonard Davis will officiate at funeral services to be held under the direction of the Greer-Croy Undertaking Company at the Bounds Creek Church above Greenville at 2:30 Thursday afternoon.
