'Betty" A. Reed, 81, was former chaplain

Elizabeth A. "Betty" Reed, 81, of Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim, died Wednesday night at home after a long illness. She lived at Pleasant View for nine years.
Formerly of 301 S. Cherry St,, Manheim, she was the wife of the late Arthur Reed and the late Harry G. Gibble.
Born in New Providence, she was a daughter of the late Edward C. and Elizabeth Andrews Frey.
She worked as a sewing machine operator at the former Noggle's Garment Factory in Manheim. She previously was a cook at the former Evans Restaurant in Manheim.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Manheim, where she belonged to the Dorcas Sunday school class.
She was a member of the Learning Disabilities Association of Lancaster County, and was former chaplain and secretary for the Women's Auxiliary of Hope Fire Engine and Hose Company No. 1 of Manheim.
Surviving are two daughters, Jeanette, wife of William Tritt of Lake Geneva, Fla., and Deloris, wife of Glen J. Miller of Manheim; and a son, Simon E. Suter of Grandin, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
