Gladys DeWitte, 92, of Zeeland, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017.

Gladys was born November 19, 1924, in Blendon Township, to Charles and Christine (Vruggink) Wabeke. Gladys married Leonard De Witte June 26, 1946. Len and Gladys raised their family in Drenthe and they were members of Drenthe Christian Reformed Church. Gladys was a dedicated wife and mother first, and a beautician second. Gladys was a member of the Drenthe CRC Ladies Society and also sang in the church choir. She was preceded in death by Leonard in 2011. She enjoyed living at American House for the past 6 years, and greatly appreciated the care and staff there.

She is survived by her children, Carol and Sherwin Brower of Hamilton, Kathy and Corwin Boeskool of Holland, Charles and Carol DeWitte of Holland, Mary and Michael Brown of Hartland, WI; 13 Grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; Sisters Dorothy Machiela, Carolyn and Earl Shoemaker, brother Roger and Julia Wabeke; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland, with the Reverend Aaron Greydanus officiating. Burial will be in Zeeland Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland. Memorial contributions may be given to Zeeland Christian School, or Bibles for Mexico.
