Former Resident Mrs. Grace Adams Dies in Oklahoma

Mrs. Grace Johnson Adams, 92, widow of James W. Adams, a former Pine Bluff resident and member of a pioneer Arkansas family, died unexpectedly early yesterday morning at her home in Oklahoma City, Okla., after a brief illness.
Mrs. Adams has made her home in Oklahoma City since 1930, and was a practitioner in the First Church of Christ Scientist there.
A native of Pine Bluff, she was born on Dec. 5, 1867, a daughter of the late Judge Willis D. and Betty Hardin Johnson.
Mrs. Adams received her education in the Pine Bluff schools and was married to the late Mr. Adams, who was a member of the State Legislature and publisher of the Pine Bluff Daily Graphic at the time of his death in 1908.
Mrs. Adams served as editor and manager of the Graphic from the time of her husband's death until 1921 and prior to that time was a member of the teaching staff in the Pine Bluff elementary schools.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. T. J. Collier of Hot Springs and Mrs. William W. Spurlock of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three grandchildren, J. W. Adams of Lake Charles, La., James A. Collier of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Mrs. Jess Reeves of Pine Bluff; and three great grandchildren.
Following services in Oklahoma City, the body will be brought to Pine Bluff.
Complete funeral arrangements will be announced by Ralph Robinson and Son Mortuary.
