Bernard was born on November 29, 1926, in rural Lake Lillian, the son of Edward and Freda (Julson) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church and attended Lake Lillian schools. He lived and farmed near Lake Lillian for his entire life until moving to Bethesda in 2012.
On January 31, 1951, he was united in marriage to Verna Braun in Olivia. After a short time living in Willmar, Bernard and Verna moved back to rural Lake Lillian.
He enjoyed seeing and visiting with his children, grandchildren and great – grandchildren. Bernard enjoyed fishing, baseball, tilling the land, and immensely enjoyed traveling the western United States with Verna where they visited most of the national parks. They cherished the winters they spent in Arizona following retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Verna; children: Linda (and Jim) Albers of Aitkin; Charles (and Dawn) Anderson of Waseca; and Keith (and Verna) Anderson of Maple Grove; 11 grandchildren: Matthew, Benjamin, Shelley, Cameron, Kelsey, Ellie, Joseph, Carrie, Erin, Mya, and Noah; and 9 great – grandchildren including one on the way. Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Joyce Anderson of Willmar and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lois Peterson; and brother, Wallace.
