Edward a thrifty farmer, born at the hamlet of Higbeetown, near
Leeds Point, N. J., 15 July 1798; married there IO June 1823 Ann
Risley, born 19 Mar. 1802, daughter of Richard and Hannah (Leeds)
of Leeds Point. They settled at Higbeetown on the homestead of
his father, where he followed the life of a farmer. He was a consistent member of the
Methodist Episcopal Church, and in politics a Republican. He died there 5 July 1867;
and she died at the homestead 19 Mar. 1872. Both are buried in the Methodist
Cemetery at Smithville, near Higbeetown.
