Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Elmer Boeckmann, age 86, who died Monday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Parish Prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., Saturday morning at the funeral home.
Elmer was born in St. Nicholas, MN to Joseph and Barbara (Nies) Boeckmann. Elmer grew up on the family farm in St. Nicholas and served in the Marines from 1952 to 1954. He married Marcella Eisenschenk on May 2, 1956 at St. John the Baptist Church, Collegeville, MN and moved to Richmond. Elmer worked as a carpenter, a feed mill manager, and a hog farmer. He was a generous man who had a great sense of humor. Elmer enjoyed fishing, cards, gardening, bowling, and horseshoes. His faith and family were very important to him. Elmer was a member of the Richmond American Legion and Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella; children, Melvin, Loren (Brenda), Mary (Dale) Lenzmeier, Victor (Ruth); 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gregor, Marcella, Alfred, Colletta, Hildegard, Ludvina, Sylvester, Sister Francetta, OSF, Othmar, Benedict, and Wendelin.
